The key objective of this brainstorming seminar was to explore the needs of and priorities for economic integration in SEE in the immediate future.

Wolfgang Petritsch has been awarded the European Human Rights Prize for 2006 by the Council of Europe and European Parliament. The prize was handed over by Carla Del Ponte on 23 February 2007 at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

Wolfgang Petritsch took part to the 9th International Conference of the Balkans Political Club named “Bosnia and Herzegovina: Crossing from Dayton’s to Brussels Phase and the Role of the International Community”. High level politicians and intellectuals, Members of the Club, a number of former and current leaders from the region took part in the conference. They discussed the role of the international community in BiH, the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), education, investment in BiH, the visa regime between BiH and other countries, problems in the BiH economy and agriculture as a sector ensuring the livelihood of 35 percent of the BiH population, as well as key processes for the accession of BiH to the EU.

Wolfgang Petritsch chaired the International conference for Bosnia and Herzegovina: "Ten Years of dayton and Beyond" organized by the Association Bosnia and Herzegovina 2005 (the predecessor of the CEIS) at Geneva's international conference center in presence of - among many others: Oli Rehn, Carl Bildt, Paddy Ashdown, Carla Del Ponte, Christian Schwarz-Schilling, Adnan Terzic. The conference coincided with a major positive development: on its second day, the European Commission recommended to the EU’s Council of Ministers to begin talks on a Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Bosnia. In that sense, 21 October 2005 marks the end of the “Dayton era” of peace implementation and the opening of the “Brussels era”.

Speakers of this panel were: Dunja Blazevic, Srdjan Dizdarevic, Jakob Finci, Ivo Komsic, Zarko Papic, Wolfgang Petritsch, Sejfudin Tokic, Miodrag Zivanovic. The opening addresses were delivered by: Micheline Calmy-Rey, Swiss Federal Councillor for Foreign Affairs, and Vreni Müller-Hemmi, Swiss National Councilor.
