Addressing the Assembly of the Council of Europe on 28 January 2010 during a debate on solving property issues of refugees and displaced persons, based on a report by Jørgen Poulsen (Denmark, ALDE), Ambassador Wolfgang Petritsch said a serious attempt to define robust guidelines on property restitution for affected Governments and people was indeed necessary.

Wolfgang Petritsch took part to the closing conference on the consultation process: "Reforming the Budget, Changing Europe". This conference brought together over 500 participants from all across Europe and provided an important opportunity for dialogue on the future of EU finances.
