Chapter 7. Bosnia and Herzegovina Beyond Dayton
Time to Tackle the National Question

by Zeljko Komsic

"Very often, it is difficult, complicated, tiresome and discouraging having to explain Bosnia and Herzegovina, the situation in the country, key challenges of the state and its institutions, potential ways in which the situation will develop, or the interactive influences of the regional, European and global situation on the country's development. Honestly speaking, outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, fewer people than ever are interested in following the situation or hearing about it. That especially applies to places where key decisions that shape the present world are being made, whatever we mean by that. However, this fact should not make us unhappy: it simply needs to be acknowledged and things viewed objectively as much as possible, emotions excluded from actions if possible, and answers not sought outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but within its borders."
