"I strongly believe that the EU would be incomplete without the South East European countries as full members. Leaving them in limbo or in uncertainty for too long could mean that at a later stage we get a much higher bill for continued military presence, civilian missions, development aid, security risks in our own home, or slow markets. Let us start thinking of the region as an opportunity. Or as a potential source of stability and security, rather than as a recipient of these two important goods: how much could be achieved if Serbia, Kosovo, FYROM and others became generators of stability! The political motive is then clearly here and legitimate. Let us put it into action. Let us show the transformative power of the EU."
