2 August 2007 - International conference in Berlin
		Within the framework of the International Council for Central and East European Studies Regional European Congress, “Transcending Europe's Borders: The EU and Its Neighbours”, organized by the German Association for East European Studies, Christophe Solioz presented a contribution on “The Balkans' European Integration Process at the Crossroads: Rethinking Southeastern Europe from a Pan-European Perspective”.

2 July 2007 - UNECE brainstorming seminar
		Wolfgang Petritsch and Christophe Solioz participated in a United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) seminar organized at the UN Palais des Nations in Geneva on the topic of “The New Situation in South East Europe: Needs and Priorities for Economic Integration”. The CEIS provided the seminar backgrounder: “Southeastern Europe Transformed: Achievements and Challenges. Rethinking Southeastern Europe from a Pan-European Perspective”. The key objective of this brainstorming seminar was to explore the needs of and priorities for economic integration in SEE in the immediate future.

11 and 12 June 2007 - International Conference in Sarajevo
		Christophe Solioz participated at the International Conference, “Economic and Social Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina: A Challenge in the Regional and European Context” organized in Sarajevo by the Austrian-French Centre for Rapprochement in Europe and the French Institute for International Relations. In his keynote address, Solioz addressed the need for a new 'big bang'. Considering Bosnia and Herzegovina, he suggested that a reframed and effective Office of the High Representative (OHR) must now finish the job and make the country ready for EU membership.

12 April 2007 - Seminar on Islam at the University of Genoa
		The University of Genoa organized a well-attended seminar on Islam in the Balkans. Against the background of the modern history of Islam in the region, Christophe Solioz reviewed the evolution of Islam in Bosnia since 1878, focusing on its politicization, as well as on the internal trends towards homogenization and diversification. The increased visibility of Islam in Bosnia and, above all, the recovery of the intellectual and cultural legacy specific to Bosnia's Muslims demands a new approach that takes into account the fact that European Islam exists and has much to contribute to the integration of Islam in Europe.

23 February 2007 - W. Petritsch receives the European Human Rights Prize
		Wolfgang Petritsch, chair of CEIS Senior Advisory Board, has been awarded the European Human Rights Prize for 2006 by Pro Europa European cultural foundation. This prestigious award is presented to Petritsch by the Basel-based European cultural foundation Pro Europa, which operates under the patronage of the President of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament. The chairman of the award committee is Prince Henrik of Denmark. The prize was presented on 23 February 2007 at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
