17-18 December 2006 - Conference on new politics in Culture in Sarajevo


On 17-18 December 2006, the Culture and Education Task Force of the Association Bosnia and Herzegovina 2005 organized a two-day conference at the Sarajevo Media Center, “In Search of New Politics in Culture and Education”. The event marked the end of a two-year research and activist project involving 11 researchers of the new generation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Gallery of the Comédie de Genève presents “Face your fears” by the writer and photographer Valérie Frey. Opening ceremony on 17 November in presence of the vice-mayor of Geneva, Patrice Mugny.

Christophe Solioz presents a conference on Bosnia that outlines key facts and fundamental trends, focusing on three essential issues: democratization and transition processes; country ownership; and recent turning points.This event is organized by the Paris-based “Association française d'études sur les Balkans.”

5 until 21 July 2006 - "Face your Fears" presented in Sarajevo

Valérie Frey is a writer and photographer living in Geneva whose work has been shown in various exhibitions in Switzerland, France, and Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1998. The exhibition “Face your fears” brings together black-and-white photographs taken in the post-war republics of former Yugoslavia between 1997 and 2005. In much the same way as we have seen the destruction and lengthy reconstruction of the Mostar Bridge, these photographs attempt to capture the shift in the Balkans towards Europe.
